How to Allow Microphone Access in Chrome for Browser Games

Chrome asks for microphone permission the first time a site requests it. If you clicked Block, or dismissed the prompt, the game cannot record until you change the setting. Here's how on each platform.

Chrome on Windows and Mac

When the prompt appears

Press Start dubbing in the game. A small prompt appears under the address bar asking to use your microphone. Click Allow. Chrome remembers this for the site.

If you previously blocked it

1. Click the tune icon (or lock icon in older versions) at the left of the address bar.
2. Find Microphone and switch it to Allow. If it is not listed, click Site settings and set Microphone to Allow there.
3. Reload the page and press Start again.

If Chrome itself has no microphone access

• Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → turn on Google Chrome. Chrome may need to restart.
• Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone → make sure Microphone access and Let desktop apps access your microphone are on.

Choosing the right microphone

Chrome uses the system default input. To change it inside Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Microphone → pick the device from the dropdown at the top.

Chrome on Android

1. Press Start dubbing. Tap Allow on the prompt. Choose While using the app if Android asks.
2. If it was blocked: tap the lock icon in the address bar → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.
3. If Microphone is not listed, go to Android Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.

Checking that it worked

After allowing, the game shows a mic check with a level meter. Speak normally; the bars should move. If they do not, see Microphone Not Working for input device fixes.

Privacy note

Chrome shows a red recording indicator in the tab while the microphone is active. The game only holds the microphone during a scene and releases it when you finish or leave the page. Recordings stay in your browser during the session.
