Microphone Not Working in Choicer Voicer? Fixes for Every Browser

Almost every microphone problem in the browser comes down to one of five causes. Work through them in order.

1. Permission was blocked

Symptom: The game says microphone access is blocked, or the prompt never appears.

Browsers remember a "Block" choice for the site. To undo it:

• Chrome / Edge (desktop): click the lock or tune icon left of the address bar → Site settings → Microphone → Allow. Reload.
• Firefox: click the microphone icon with a line through it in the address bar → remove the block. Reload.
• Safari (Mac): Safari menu → Settings for This Website → Microphone → Allow.
• iPhone / iPad: Settings → Safari → Microphone → Allow, and check Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → Safari is on.
• Android Chrome: tap the lock icon → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.

2. The meter does not move

Symptom: Permission is granted but the mic check bars stay flat.

• The browser may be using the wrong input. On Mac, System Settings → Sound → Input; on Windows, Settings → System → Sound → Input. Pick the device you are speaking into.
• Bluetooth headsets sometimes connect as output only. Reconnect them or use the built-in mic.
• Check the OS input volume is not at zero or muted.
• Some laptops have a hardware mic mute key (often F4 with a mic icon).

3. Another app is holding the microphone

Symptom: An error like "microphone is in use" or the recording is silent.

Video-call apps, other tabs and streaming software can hold exclusive access. Close them, then press Start again.

4. You're inside an in-app browser

Symptom: Nothing happens when you press Start, or a generic error appears.

Links opened inside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or Discord run in a restricted browser that often blocks microphone access. Tap the menu (⋯) and choose Open in Safari or Open in Chrome.

5. The page is not https

Browsers only allow microphone recording on secure pages. Make sure the address starts with https://. This site enforces https, but a bookmark to an old http:// link can bypass it.

Still not working?

• Restart the browser completely (on iOS, swipe it away from the app switcher).
• Try another browser; Chrome and Safari handle recording most reliably.
• Update the OS. iOS versions before 14.3 cannot record in the browser.
• Test the mic on another site or app to rule out a hardware fault.
